HMRC says that expertise or earning a living from gambling does not by itself make it a trade; income connected with services can be treated differently. This guide has not confirmed event-specific withholding. Ask the organizer about payout paperwork and check obligations in your country of tax residence. Organizer deductions from a prize pool are not automatically tax withholding.
